Dinner at hawker center ---> Dataran Sunway@PJ

We have decided tat it is time to go hawker center instead of some restaurant...and was telling D that near my place have quite a few, and one of the shop sells BBQ poultry (烧腊)。D likes it, so the 1st stop of the nite......is Restaurant Voon BBQ.

We ordered a 2 person servings of mixed BBQ meat which consist the char siew (叉烧), siew yoke (烧肉), and roast duck (烧鸭). Just love it, the char siew is crispy on the side and the sauce is sweet, and the siew yoke and roast duck skin is as crispy as well. I like the rice, it is not clumpy, but cook to perfection...yummy.....

Mixed BBQ RM18.00

We hit the next spot which is nearby for a second round.....I went to Shilin last weekend, tried the XXL chicken, not so nice...so me and D decided to hit the Uncle Bob stall for some fried chicken.

We order 2 pieces (too greedy) of chicken, spicy flavor...they have original one as well. But the chilies wasnt enuff, so didnt taste too spicy....

Per piece is RM4.80

We decided to to get a place to sit and continue our "tasting" session. Too many choices to choose from.

Average bloke order "loh bak" for us....not bad...especially our favourite is the Taiwanese sausage. The rest was ok....

The sauce for "loh bak", kinda sticky but dilluted, and sweet. Not really to my liking.

D decided to go for Hokkien Mee, look nice, and he say taste nice too.......

Hokkien Mee RM 5.00

Average Bloke say he feel like having Mee Rebus, but turns out not so nice as the sauce is dilluted and D say the sauce taste weird also......

We are not done for the nite though....we went for "tea". But we will blog about that place next time......

Dim sum ---> Sri Petaling

I woke up early on a Sunday morning feeling very hungry.....

Since I got nothing much to do, so I decided to drop by one of the Dim Sum shop near my house. This shop is located along Jalan Radin Anum in front of the fishing pond.

This is a picture of the guy bringing some goodies to my table. Look at all the fried stuff he brought.

This is the shop specialty, glutinous chicken rice cook inside a pau. Personally this dish taste pretty normal, but its the uniqueness that counts.

The plates of dim sum ordered. Enjoy.

Lastly this plate of chee cheong fun is cook in hong kong style. Not bad for a Sunday morning breakfast.

Join Yummy steamboat ---> Sri Petaling

Its been a long since we had steamboat, so we decided to drop in a steamboat restaurant for dinner.

Here is the front view of the shop.

This is the menu and it has the shop address on it as well. Feel free to drop in.

Heh, this picture was taken after I put some of the ingredients in the soup.

In this shop, there are 4 types of soup you can choose from, I choose tom yam and chicken soup. And there are also 4-6 types of different sauce to choose as well. You can take as much as you want.

Here are some of the other ingredients that wasn't in the picture above.

Noodles and eggs that usually comes with steamboat. Anyway this meal was fantastic as I was starving at that time. And it doesn't cost a lot. There is a 'la carte or buffet option and a 'la carte cost 12.90 per person and buffet cost 14.90 per person.

Fish porridge ---> Sri Petaling (Lucky restaurant)

Food' glorious food.
These lines in my head appearing in my head while I am doing my Saturday morning walk. After walking for about an hour feeling refresh, we drop by to Lucky restaurant for breakfast.

So we decided to order porridge for breakfast.

These are the utensils given if you order a pot of porridge from the stall.

And these is the pot of fresh fish porridge for 2 people. Hmmmm, its one of the best porridge around town. Sometimes the queue is so long, you have to wait 30 mins to be serve. Besides fish, you can also order frog, crab and lala too. This is really worth the wait. This cost RM8 per person.

To make the meal complete, we ordered a plate of yam cake from a different stall. The taste is good but it is a bit soft. This only cost 1.50.

For those who want to eat here, just go to Sri Petaling and this Lucky restaurant is opposite The Store car park area.

~ Bangkok food escapade ~ part 2

When you are in Bangkok one shopping center that you should not miss out is MBK (Mah Boon Krung) Center.
It's something like the Sungai Wang Plaza of KL. But the main attraction is the food court in MBK shouldn't be miss out. It got around 30 stalls selling all sorts of Thai delicacy. FYI, I did not take picture of the food court again :)

Pork knuckle rice - Served with rice, half boiled egg and salted vegetable. This is my personnal favorite, never miss everytime I go to Bangkok.

The ever famous Tom Yam Gong - Thats how they pronounce it in thai. Gong stands for soup i think. I don't think i need to further introduce this soup right?
Tom yum is characterized by its distinct hot and sour flavors, with fragrant herbs generously used. The basic broth is made of stock and fresh ingredients such as lemon grass, lime juice, fish sauce, tamarind, crush chilli, etc etc.

One of the desert shop that should not be missed in Bangkok is Mango Tango located at Siam Square. It sells lotsa Mango desserts from ice cream to juices to puddings.
This is an must order, can't remember what it's called. But you have a combo of fresh mango, mango ice cream and mango pudding. The fresh mango is sweet as honey and the ice cream is smooth and taste full of mango.

~ Bangkok food escapade ~ part 1

Well well how do we start...ok there's lots of food that has been consume on my past 4days trip in Bangkok Thailand but I only got pictures of 50% of them only.

First meal when we touch down at Bangkok
Seafood fried rice - The fragrant rice combined with the fresh seafood with a hint of lime juice fantastic!

Black Pepper Seafood with rice - Generous serving of sotong, prawns and onion fried with black pepper sauce. Very nice, especially the prawns are just well done not too 'cook'.

Next food stop was Chatuchak Market or also known as JJ by the local. Food stalls there are humungous. Too bad I didn't get any picture. Only thing I tried there are the pork balls, coconut water, coconut water and more coconut water... the weather was freaking hot ok?

The other thing that i tried there was Fried Chicken ala Thai
Thai style fried chicken - This is good stuff, tender fried chicken with thai sauce. And also some sort of sausage, don't really know what is it but taste good thou :)
Served with sticky rice
And papaya salad, fresh papaya marinated with lime juice and fish sauce, served with roasted peanut and tomatoes.

A Trip To Singapore ----> Clementi & Town Area (Suntec City Mall)

Had a visit to Singapore two weeks ago to meet up with old friends to do some catching up. Had most of my meals at shopping mall food courts during the trip but I did manage to had a meal at the local Singaporean style hawker centre at Clementi. One particular snack/side-dish whichever you call it I feel that is rather worth a mention is the local style rojak.

Medium Size Rojak at SGD 3.50

Three sizes of rojak plate servings: small (SGD 2.50), medium (SGD 3.50) and large (SGD 4.50)

Rojak ingredients include: cuttlefish, cucumber, mango, pineapple and youtiao* mix together with minced prawn sauce toppled with ground peanuts

Clementi Rojak

(A "youtiao" is a long, golden-brown, deep fried strip of dough in Chinese cuisine and other East and Southeast Asian cuisines and is usually eaten for breakfast. Conventionally, youtiao are lightly salted and made so they can be torn lengthwise in two. Youtiao are normally eaten as an accompaniment for rice congee or soy milk.)

I had the rojak at the first day of my arrival in Singapore; the following day I had another of Singapore's local dish called the: "Fried Hokkien Mee" at Suntec City's Level 1 Food Republic Food Court. Basically it is the stir frying of mee* and abit of Bee Hoon* with abit of prawn sauce. Combine it with some sambal.... Better to taste it than describe it!
