A Trip To Singapore ----> Clementi & Town Area (Suntec City Mall)

Had a visit to Singapore two weeks ago to meet up with old friends to do some catching up. Had most of my meals at shopping mall food courts during the trip but I did manage to had a meal at the local Singaporean style hawker centre at Clementi. One particular snack/side-dish whichever you call it I feel that is rather worth a mention is the local style rojak.

Medium Size Rojak at SGD 3.50

Three sizes of rojak plate servings: small (SGD 2.50), medium (SGD 3.50) and large (SGD 4.50)

Rojak ingredients include: cuttlefish, cucumber, mango, pineapple and youtiao* mix together with minced prawn sauce toppled with ground peanuts

Clementi Rojak

448 Clementi Avenue 3 #01-27

By train: Take MRT to Clementi station (EW23). Then cross over towards Commonwealth Theatre and walk to Block 448.

By bus: Take buses 7, 14, 96, 99, 147, 156, 165, 166, 173, 173A, 196, 282, 284, 285 to Clementi interchange. Walk towards Commonwealth Theatre and locate Block 448.

(A "youtiao" is a long, golden-brown, deep fried strip of dough in Chinese cuisine and other East and Southeast Asian cuisines and is usually eaten for breakfast. Conventionally, youtiao are lightly salted and made so they can be torn lengthwise in two. Youtiao are normally eaten as an accompaniment for rice congee or soy milk.)

I had the rojak at the first day of my arrival in Singapore; the following day I had another of Singapore's local dish called the: "Fried Hokkien Mee" at Suntec City's Level 1 Food Republic Food Court. Basically it is the stir frying of mee* and abit of Bee Hoon* with abit of prawn sauce. Combine it with some sambal.... Better to taste it than describe it!

Kim Cafe ---> Indrapura Kulai @Johor

I miss the tofu in Kulai.....so breakfast will be yoong tau fu....went with my family....but no picture hoh...think mum & dad is not very comfy with me taking picture of their food...so only took mine...
Nasi Lemak

I decided to have Nasi Lemak....so long didnt have it already...It taste nice as the rice have the smell of the banana leaves with rich amount of santan (coconut milk) and the rice is cook juz nice, not sticky and each grain is on its own.

Yoong tau fu per piece RM1.20

Sometimes which is a must for me here is the yoong tau fu. Kulai's tau fu is made from well water, so it is sweet and soft.. a must have..other than the tau fu in Kulai, I seldom takes tau fu from other places. Since Sis is not getting anything on carbo (as usual) , we ordered about 10 pieces of yoong tau fu..the amount of meat in the tau fu is juz nice...not too little...soft soft tau fu...

Beancurd skin & gingko dessert (腐竹白果) RM2.50

No coffee, or tea....another favorite here is the beancurd skin & gingko dessert (腐竹白果). Not too sweet, soft beancurd skin, and the shop is not stingy with the gingko...quite a few....nice nice...

Yuen's Steamboat ---> Sunway @ PJ

Suppose to go to Puchong for the Shabu Shabu, but Average Bloke say he have tried and he dun fancy it. So changed of plan, went to Yuen's Steamboat instead. All three floors fully occupied, Bertz and Average Bloke went and queue for a seat earlier.

Abundant of choices, good thing is that they keep on replenish the food.

Waiting 15min in advance for the chicken wings to arrive...

Hot pepper soup ---> Serdang town

After visiting my grandmother from the hospital, I decided to drop by for some pepper soup. This shop is located nearby to South City plaza. Just a notice to our friends, this is a non-halal restaurant.

This is the main delicacy, the soup is made out of white pepper, black pepper, pepper powder and etc. The ingredients will be pig intestines, pig stomach, mushrooms and pork meat. The soup is great and you can just drink it on its own, and the best part is that you can refill it.

Next we have the fried taufu. This is the shop specialty too. It looks great and tasty as well.

This is a plate of vegetables we ordered.

Lastly we also have the dish called "Fah Tui" chicken. I dont really know what it means but the black sauce cooks together with the chicken it simply delicious.

The whole meal cost me up to 60 ++ for 4 people. Personally I think the price is reasonable as most people will just come and enjoy the food.

Below is the front view of the restaurant. Those of you interested can look for it through this website too http://www.aheko.com.my

Sukico Hainan Cafe ---> Damansara Utama

Today lunch went with HL, so we decided to come to the kopitiam style cafe. Looking thru the menu, it is selling very Hainanese food. Can even find the Hainanese curry rice.

Hainam Cham

HL settle with a coffee like drink call Hainam Cha. According to the lady, it is coffee mixed with a small amount of tea...look like kopi ice though...

Asam Lime

I ordered a asam lime drink (吉子酸梅)...... taste juz nice for me.....I like sourish stuffs....hehe

Roti Babi

Looking at the menu, something caught my eyes.."Roti Babi", sorry geng...this place not halal leh...it is bread stuffs with mince meat, coated with egg and fried....a little oily...the meat taste like bolognise sphagetthi mice meat...taste ok.....

Ribs noodles

We decided to share the bread and order another main dish to share...so we decided on "Ribs noodle" (排骨面). The noodle taste like yee mee, but think the meat didnt marinate well, coz it taste very "pork" (if u know what i mean). Overall it is ok.....I prefer the Ribs noodle at another shop in DU more.
Kaya Bun

Not satisfied, and the kaya toast on the wall seem more appetizing, hence I decided to order one..it taste good...the bread is lightly toast and the edge is slightly crunchy. The butter melted and taste great with the kaya..slight saltiness of butter with the sweetness of kaya....

The toast save the day.........the whole lunch come bout RM22 or so. Sorry hoh...old shop no receipt...so I can give the price of each item....short memory...

Hari Raya -----> Wan's House, Shah Alam

Last Saturday we went to Wan's wonderful new house for Hari Raya. Me, Fitri, Robert, Yoges, Bahiyah, and Maisa (the Affin guy) were there! The food was great. Plenty of biskut raya to choose from and good food served at the table! Main dishes includes Nasi Tomato and Nasi Himpit served with Kuah Kacang.

According to Wan's mom, this Nasi Tomato is freshly made just for us, straight from the kitchen. The rice is fluffy with bits of sweet raisins inside.

This is the Ayam Masak Merah and they are soo yummy!

This is the Dalca, which always served with Nasi Tomato.

This is Acar. It has sliced cucumber, carrots, onions and red chillies in a vinegar mix.

Nasi Himpit, also known as 'rice cakes'.

The Kuah Kacang gravy. Usually served with satay. For Hari Raya, this Kuah Kacang is usually served with Nasi Himpit. Robert even had this as the gravy for his Nasi Tomato!

Chocolate cake for dessert. Bahiyah said this is so sedap!

Who's that?? Oh yeah that's Maisa's girlfriend.

SELAMAT HARI RAYA!!

Noble House ---> Jalan Imbi@KL

Well, last weekend was an unsuccessful search for Noble house with D and Average Bloke . Yesterday I went with my sis and her fren, to do another search...due to unfamiliarity to KL, we ended up walking bout 1 km from where we park...so tired =_=

We reach there bout 1pm +, as we did not made any reservation hence we were being placed at a separate room from the buffet room, means more walking...Its a bad time to go, as most of the food is cold and half finish.

As my tummy wasnt feeling well tat day, I only manage to try on few thing before I call it off the day....

We took the Rm39++ buffet, and it comes with a bowl of sharks fin, which is very thick and creamy which makes you feel half full after finishing it.

Braised Shark's Fin with Crabmeat & Crabroe

A fried chicken strip dip in wasabi mayo

Baked Scallop with cheese (but I cant find the scallop, only chicken, mushroom and cheese)

The Char Siew Bao is really good...my sis had 5. But same thing, only the char siew and not the skin

The lotus paste bun skin is hard....but the fillings it nice.

The "malai kou" is nice...soft soft

The soya drink taste a little like "fu chok" (bean curd sheet) which is real nice...My sis & I had 2 bowls, but its a little sweet.

O'chacha ---> The Pavilion@KL (2nd Visit)

I love green tea...and after a heavy lunch...the next thing I can think of it a cup of tea...so, I brought my sis and her fren to O'chacha....

Shencha RM8.50

My sis ordered sencha which is Japanese green tea without grinding the tea leaves...tat taste grassy, slight bitter (for me....)....but it taste good....

Gyokuro RM9.00

Her fren ordered a Gyokuro which refers to pale green color of the infusion.....I didnt get to taste it...but no complain....

The pot is juz nice to pour out 2 cup, and after u have drink it, then you can ask fro a refill of hot water....for tea it is not advisable for it to be soak in hot water for too long, else the taste will be too much to take.

O'chacha silk (Thirstier) RM11.50

For me, even though full, I wanna try the O'chacha silk, which is green tea with soymilk...if you like sweet stuffs...don't think this is for you...as it is bland but it smells good.....
